Went on this ride today with Mark.
A perfect day for a ride! 68 deg at 8am, and never rose over 74 deg! overcast, but hey that beats
hot temps!

There were a couple no-shows, so it turned out to be just the two of us.
This allowed some creativity in the route, and we elected to ride some areas not often
traveled by myself and Mark, and other areas we have never traveled.

Started at the entrance to Laguna Coast Wilderness park, just south of El Toro Rd, on the 133.
Started witha steep climb, as if it wasn't steep enough, there was no distance to warm up before
hand. Was able to clean most of the climb, with only one small section I walked, Lost traction from
a rock under my tire, and as everyone knows, starting on a major grade in dirt is
not an easy task. This was apx 700' elev gain over apx 1.5 miles.

Once reaching the top, the fun started. Rode Bommer ridge a few mile to the start of
"Emerald single track" which is fun, fast, slightly technical single track into Emerald Canyon. This
was an exceptionally fun bomb down hill!!

At the bottom of the trail we took Emeral Canyon toward PCH. Now we were told by another
group that there is no way out to PCH, but hey, we're in it for the adventure!! Now this canyon
is fun fast singletrack all the way to a fence ( now this is a 10' fence!! barbed wire and all!).
It just so happend a resident of the area was just exitong and locking the gate, allowing us through
to continue to PCH.

From there we were "roadies on MTB's" for the next couple miles!!
Headed to the entrance of El Moro and in. Took a short break to snarf down some Gel, and chat with
a really nice lady waiting for here friends.

Headed up "No Name Ridge" for another climb up, which went on for some time, but was still a fun challenge! Took some fun rollers all the way up to Ridge Park Dr..
From here we took off for some fast single track along "Fence Line". Ran into some folks
Mark new while on the trail, and proceeded to try and not block the trail as we chatted.

Once done with the Fence Line trail, we headed back to the dirt road/trail we climbed!!
Man, a very fast., steep, "oh sh** will I make this" decent!! Did I really ride up this??

To end with a lunch at In-and-Out.

Marks info said just over 15 miles with apx 2200 ft of elevation gain!
Not junk miles for sure! lots of smiles and laughs, to go with my tired and slightly sore legs..

Damn, Life is Good!!
