I don't know what possessed me, but on the road today I picked up my first old bike thinking this looks cool and a couple old bike pics from this forum made it even more tempting.

I guess it was impulse buying.

Not having any experience here just a strange desire I found myself with an old Schwinn Panther two tone red bike and someone decided to paint the fenders gold.

I found a book about old Schwinns and checked out what I bought and I knew what I had.

What I didn't know was how much work I might be into.

Like I said, it was impulse buying.

So I need help in where to find parts, websites, books, paints, parts, etc.

And is it a mistake to tackle this or is it better to pass it to someone who might appreciate it more and have more experience in restoration.I will try and post a picture and at the risk of being beaten, I paid 100 for it. It seems solid and works well though the brakes dont seem to grab quickly.

Lights and horn need work for sure.

Any help, direction or whatever is very much appreciated.
Jim

I will try and include a picture, but dont count on it.

I don't know anything about your Schwinn but there are folks here who might.

Meanwhile here's a website that could be helpful.
