General Cycling Discussion - Week in pictures

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The Tour de France made MSNBCs week in pictures...
Wine and cheers
A race fan dining on the side of the road cheers on the passing cyclists July 8 during the third stage of the 90th Tour de France, between Charleville-Mezieres and Saint-Dizier

that's the way to enjoy the stages of the Tour de France, I won't mind doing the same thing, the only problem, is my time, I have to plan this once in my lifetime , very soon, I am not getting any younger
Maybe next year, we should get a bikeforums contingency and follow the tour and get our own wine and cheese and bread (all american, of course, except the cheese cause american cheese is terrible) and do this!

Where is the cheese. French usually drink only from their own region- so that is a Burgundy bottle. Picnic's ok to drink out of plastic.
We have often mapped our bike tours through wine regions. Seems to compliment one another very well.
Wonderful way to see the TDF! Thanks for the picture! I'm making it my wall paper for awhile!!

Very nice-a bottle of Beaujolais-Villages, a baugette, and the TdF. Is this part of a package tour?

mmmmmm, a baguette.
The only problem with trying to eat as the peloton passes by is that they reek. If you'ever been in a group ride you'll know that being at the tail end exposes you to all sorts of nasty odor. That said, I'd put up with the 30 seconds or so of offending smells for a nice little luncheon by the side of the road as the TdF comes wizzing by. Just as long as they're not actually wizzing over to the side of the road. I've seen that picture of the organised mass comfort-break. :D

I think it's part of their culture. ;)
I was recently on a flight and found myself without reading material so I dug through the seat pocket in front of me and pulled out the airline magazine. I came across an article by someone who had just completed a cycling tour of France. At one point, the author remarked something to the effect of, "pedalling along the quiet serene countryside of Bourdeux, I suddenly regretted the invention of the automobile."

The problem is that you get your cheese from Wisconsin. Tastes much better on the West Coast. :D
That's a pretty classy picture, too bad they couldn't talk that guy into dressing up for it :roflmao:
