Road Cycling - Looking for first road bike.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone have any suggestions for "good" quality road bike in the 1K-1,200K range?

Hi.
You might do a search in the forum. There have been at least 10 recent threads on appropriate new road bikes. Should be some valuable info there.
Try
new AND road AND bike
or
first AND road AND bike
or similar.
Use the "adv search" function.
Also, consider the Lemond Tourmalet as one possibility.

What brands and models have you seen or ridden at your LBS?
What bikes do your friends ride?
How much riding will you be doing?

Right know i have a felt SR71,road bike with straight bars and i bought the fuji marsellie and i test road the zurich and the prodigy.I wanted steel for longer rides.Right know i ride tue.,wed. andfri,15-16 miles each day and 20 miles on sat and sun. With the fuji i will start doing longer rides on the weekends.
I've tried Trek 2300 at LBS. The ride was okay but I guess I'm leaning to an 853 frame. I see many different vendors sporting the 853, but is the quality the same across the board.

All the bikes in that price range are going to be about the same. First thing and most important is to find a properly sized bike, then pick which one looks the best.
Spend some more dough and get a FONDRIEST!!!!!!!It will be worth it. You will not be disappointed.
looks like a Cane mutiny to me......Enac
