It looks like a great idea for people like Michigander (allergy/pollen issues) and Siu (asthma issues).

My normal road helmet cost more than that.

What would cagers think if they saw a group of cyclists bearing down on them with helmets like that?...

Ah, for when you're getting far too much air in your lungs. Also, it helps get rid of all that pesky visibility!

What an absurd piece of trash. I've used a lot of respirators, and it looks obvious to me that that thing would be a collosal pain in the ass. A half face would do the trick just fine, and weigh a lot less.

I've worn all kinds of respirators with a hardhat on, and I've been wearing my half face on bike rides lately, and it works very well. The very idea something that big that combines a helmet and a mask would be needed on a bike ride boggles my mind. A full face should be worn for in excess of 10 x the PEL of a dust or chemical or biological fume, or for an eye irritant. Not for a little pollen or trail dust. Not to mention, who would have filters for that stupid thing? A respirator filter is good for about a month after it's opened, or for 40 hours of use. Lastly, I am suspicious of the price. 200 dollars for a full face respirator is cheap as hell. If it's battery powered the fan would provide a breeze, but if it isn't, nobody anywhere would ride with it on for more than a mile on a remotely hot day.

Oh, it's also the dorkiest thing I've ever seen the world of cycling offer up.

That's a rough 3D rendering of the helmet used in the Predator movies... If you could buy one I'd suspect it would be for costume purposes only... Unless that was sarcasm, in which case I said nothing. :P
