Hi there!
I'm new here and at road cycling. Just bought my first road bike about 3 1/2 weeks ago -- a Bianchi Eros. I haven't been on a bike, other than a beach cruiser, since my teens -- when I owned a 10 speed. :D I'm 41, female, 5'4", 123lbs, wife of 21 years & mother of 2 (Brittany - 18 & Brian, Jr. - 13). I love my sweetie & my kiddies.
The first 3 weeks I rode my bike at Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Nice, flat, breezy. :) My longest ride was 23 miles at a 14.32 pace. It was difficult to get a faster pace there because I had to do over half the ride on trails in areas where they don't let you out on the road. The other part was back in neighborhoods & I stayed between 15mph - 18mph the whole time. I guess that's alright for a newbie -- I don't really know. LOL My other rides there were 15 - 17 mile rides.
I'm home now & took my first ride today in hilly terrain for 11 miles. It's so hot here -- 105 heat index plus humidity. :( Anyway, I rode at 7:30a.m. so not to be out in the heat of the day.
I think I'll start a century training schedule & see how I do. I've been lifting weights & doing cardio for about 7 years, so I'm in decent shape. I also plan to join the local cycling club.
Anyway, I've probably told you more than you wanted to know already! LOL
Looking forward to learning here! :)
