General Cycling Discussion - True or False: Shimano owns SRAM?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Maybe I heard wrong, but I thought someone passed along to me that Shimano now owns SRAM.
SRAM owns Avid and Truvativ (short for "truly innovative).
I've GOOGLED Shimano/SRAM, but found nothing.
Can someone square me away on this rumor please? Say it isn't so!

god farted and it was bad!
Carlyle Group and Onex Corp recently bought Allison Transmission and hope to acquire both Shimano and SRAM. Pass it on.

But seriously, Halliburton owns both SRAM and Shimano.
Hitler Holdings, LLC currently owns Campagnolo.

I'm going to say, judging by all the dumb *ss responses, that you probably shouldn't have asked that question.
SRAM is locked in vicious fight with Shimano for market share. I just can't see them selling out to Shimano. Good luck in your quest grasshopper.

You heard right, but what was said was not that shimano now owns sram but that shimano PWNS sram. The difference is subtle but profound.

How does this bilge get started in the first place?
Both Shimano and SRAM make bilge pumps and they look alike!.
