... woo hoo!
I thought someone said they had shorts, but I couldn't find any on the web site. Maybe whoever I talked to was smoking something or drinking too much. I didn't order the plaque yet ... maybe I'll order it after I decide if I'll do Knoxville, and go for the 1000 mile.

I'm pretty sure anybody that does a double has to be smoking sumthin'!:D....Next year buddy!

They do have shorts, but they're just the "California" Voler's and they don't say Triple Crown on them. Looking the bright side, at least they coordinate well with the TripleCrown jerseys!
Same with the socks with the CA bear on them; i.e. not Triple Crown only, but they do complete the kit!

That reminds me... totally forgot about the planet ultra order I have out there. I love surprises! Even though they aren't scheduled to arrive until Sept.

I've been looking for shorts, but can't find it. Probably someplace obvious, but maybe I'm having a blond moment????

I haven't even ordered the jersey yet. I thought I'd rush out and buy it, but then after Hemet, I was like, "meh."

Ron, go to the product page then "Voler California Bear Flag Shorts or Bibs".

Also, a warning about the CA "Triple Crown" shorts: Do not use with Bag Balm. There must be something in the formula for Bag Balm, but it makes the "chamois pad" separate from the lycra on the butt, causing the much dreaded BBS or "Baggy Butt Syndrome."
And no, I won't provide a photo because it's just too awful to look at and it could scare young children (and even old adults!).
Rick / OCRR
PS: Use Chamois Butt'r instead! Then no Baggy Butt!

hmmm ... never heard of Bag Balm. I've used Assos Chamois Cream and Chamois Butt'r, so I guess I should be safe there.

Bag Balm is made to put on cow's udders before you hook them up to a milking machine (or before milking by hand too, I would guess). It comes in a bright green cube-shaped metal can, and you can buy it at Walmart (in the pet section). And no, I've never milked a cow, mechanically or otherwise.
I've had super good results using Bag Balm as chamois pad lube, even back in the day when chamois were "natural." Lots of other riders use it too! There is a similar product called "Udder Balm," which works just as good but has been more difficult to locate since I moved to SoCal.
I like the Assos, but it's kind of pricey for me (cheap old guy that I am). Chamois Butt'r is also excellent, and that's what I would recommend for use with the Voler shorts. Bag Balm is no problem on my Pearl Izume and Giordana shorts!

I know this is silly, but I feel odd about putting cream meant for cows' udders on my wahoozit. It just doesn't sound appealing. :o

I fell off my chair reading that :roflmao:
No worries, no injuries. But I think I'll have to start wearing a helmet when I read posts on BF :D
I have the same thoughts about it, emmy :D

Thanks for the warning! I do not use Bag Balm in place of chamois cream, but I do use it for the antiseptic properties. I pushed Rick to use it on RAAM after he went without any cream for the first few days because the chaffing was becoming very bad. He healed up nicely!

Reeeallllly. Good to know! :D Seriously, I wouldn't have known udder cream could heal chaffing once it has started.

Yes, it's true.
One thing Bag Balm has that Chamois Butt'r doesn't is something that helps to heal chafing. They get it past the regulators since it's not supposed to be for humans. It does work!
ME, if you just try it on your . . . ah, "wahoozit" (never heard that term before!), you will like it. Millions of cows can't be wrong!
Rick / OCRR
I actually didnt like BB on the chamois....I am sticking with Buttr...but BB is the best for afterwards.....

Unfortunately, I've seen others do it, too.
Bag Balm is use when cows utters get ulcerated from milking machines. It is an antiseptic and helps heal the ulcerations. It works great when you get a breakout or raw from cycling. I use it on long rides to stop bacteria from building up and causing a problem. I put the BB on me not the chamois.

So Cal BF is just like a box of chocolates. No matter the thread title, when you open it up, you don't know for sure what you're going to get.

My apologies if I caused the derailment! I just wanted to warn Ron not to use Bag Balm on Cal Triple Crown (Voler) shorts. Didn't mean it to turn into a Bag Balm (or not) thread!

I can. I'm bigger than Ron. I could beat him up and take his jersey, but there's no point as it wouldn't fit. OTOH I probably couldn't beat up anyone with a jersey big enough to fit me, but the principle still stands.
