Does USA Cycling have its own registry of US Pro teams? I read an article about Einstein Brothers pro cycling, but it's not on the list of any of the UCI division (pro, pro cont, cont) teams.
?
pros in name only. Really elite.

Those are Pro and Elite squads mixed together. The first couple aren't too shabby.

Are these what are referred to as "development teams"? I guess the question is do they get PAID?

Yes. They get to keep their prize money and their club probably reimburses their entry fees if they place.

The teams at the top of the list like HealthNet, Toyota-United, Jelly Belly, Navigators, etc. are all professional cyclists. They get paid to race.
The further down you go, the less likely they are to be pro teams. I have a friend on Abercrombie & Fitch who is a Cat1; that is a development team, and they are ranked #19.

just....:( :(

Hi,
The standings are are for the NRC (National Racing Calendar) which is a US only series of races. So teams like CSC and Discovery only get points when they show up at one of the races on the calendar (http://www.usacycling.org/nrc/calendar.php).
i train with 2 guys from memphis motorwerks. #29!
and let me tell you, those 2 guys are no joke, plus they get to wear badass kits.
Are these what are referred to as "development teams"? I guess the question is do they get PAID?
not really. A develpment team is attached to a much larger, often Pro Tour, squad. Like the Davitamon/Win for Life/Jong Vlaanderen is the feeder team for Predictor-Lotto.
they use the feeder squad to develop young talent, with the aim of snapping up any potential superstars before they are exposed to other teams with deep pockets.
Yes they get paid, but it ain't much. Even the minimum wage in the Pro Tour is pretty woeful by professional sport standards

I was at a race with the Priority Health/Bissel guys (or at least, some of them). One of them won, but I was surprised they didn't stomp on everyone.

Don't we all get that?
The top teams on the list get paid to race and most if not all of their riders don't have day jobs. That counts as pro in my book.
UCI pro = some kind of paid salary
All others = prize money, riding expenses, some under the table cash (depending on the team).

they have an elite team of non-pro cat 1/2 racers. this was most likely them if you are talking about a race near michigan.

Yup. Tour of Kensington Valley in SE MI.
Hell, it was probably a 'C' race for them, though.

That rankigis just points from NRC events (National Racing Calender) I'm betting CSC hasn't done too many NRC events, other than their own race.

I think you'd be surprised how many Continental UCI pros have day jobs. I think when Chris Horner rode for Webcor Builders there were only 1-2 other guys that didn't have 9-5's.

I get half my race fees reimbursed, free kit, etc... and I'm only Cat 4 - our club team certainly isn't pro.
We have an opulent sponsor though.
