As you can tell from the thread title, I am from Portland, OR. My name is Nikolaus (or Nik or Niko), as well as I am 18. I am new to biking, though I had dreams of being a BMX racer when I was little, but that all changed when I started playing music, instead.

I do not have a bike at the moment, as I am still searching, but I have one in mind that I am going to check out tomorrow, and, hopefully, that deal follows through. I want to start riding, again, for the enjoyment of it, commuting, and exercise.

I know Portland has a huge bike scene, but I did not realize just how big it really is. I have been reading over threads here for the past couple of days to try and learn more about bikes, so that I have a better knowledge of the thing I shall begin to ride.

Even with the weather, Portland is, of course, a great town to bike in. Maybe not Wednesday though, I hear it's going to get up around 100.

Enjoy your time at the forums. Remember that the search key is your friend, but don't feel afraid to ask questions too.

I am looking at riding, in general. I would be doing mostly road biking, though, and traveling between two distances for commuting. Once I start and feel comfortable doing it, I would like to take a trip up to Washington and ride. Originally, I was born and raised there, as well as I have relatives that still live up there, so something like riding up there isn't far from reach.

It is now only Tuesday, and it is far too hot! I was outside for a couple minutes and already wanted to go back inside. :p

I am just reading through posts at the moment, obtaining a feel for the forums. I remember what it was like to be new to a forum, but I haven't been new to one in almost 5 years. (I am a regular member over at MusicianForums.)

I am excited to ride, again.

Welcome, Nik. Just go slow, drink lots of water, and wear sunscreen, and you'll be fine today and tomorrow.
