Probably a stupid question, but I am a roadie, give me a break. :D
I am cabling up my first cross bike, a Fuji Cross Comp. It has the above the top tube cable mounts. My question is with the barrel adjusters...........where do they go? Near the head tube, or nearer the seat tube braze-ons? I've got two adjusters and two REALLY short cables.
Thanks!

.... here's my guess.
in order, from the shifter levers proceeding back:
1.) short housing length
2.) adjuster barrel
3.) longer housing length
4.) top tube cable stop
If I'm wrong, please correct me.
yeah those are inline with the cable housing they don't mount to the braze ons. So IOW like justinb said you set the first length of housing such that the barrel adjuster is a few inches off of the brifter so you can adjust it on the fly right in front of your handle bars (assuming you are using Shimano) I think w/ Campy you would have to come up with an alternate location.
So it goes brifter -> housing -> barrel adjuster -> housing -> Braze on.
Yep, you're right. It was a Shimano spec'd bike that I Team ordered. I have Campy, so they're not going to work correctly. I just looked at one of the LBS bikes and realized that!
Thanks!
Yeah, all my bikes are Campy, I assumed you were Shimano. My bad.
My CX bike has downtube cable routing (haven't had a problem yet), so my adjusters are on the downtube. Maybe you could fit those adjusters near your handlebar where the housing leaves the tape? Just a thought.
