this just started this weekend, but when I'm crusing at about 16+ in the second chainring (i have a tripple) and in most gears in the rear cassette there is this annoying squeel that is driving me mad. it only happens in this range of gears and when I'm pedaling. Do i need to lube the cassette?

thanks

Probably the rear der. pulleys need some lubrication. Try using some spray lube in those pulleys or use a needle oiler to apply some liquid slipperyness. That oughta return the stealthiness to your attacks.
