So, I finally decided on a frame that I want. I really like the brakeless Seshin Megatron frame in 20.4. http://seshinbikes.com/products.htm It's such a nice frame, and I don't even need to buy a new headset or BB. Oh yeah, and it's also only $200. When I eventually snap my frame (when my mom cools down and actually lets me ride), that's what I'm getting.

It looks nice a nice frame. Get that Solid headset since it's not integrated.
I've been thinking about selling my Solid and getting an Ivy or PW. I just might.

Haha why Kinetic? Just why?

The read tri on my AA is crooked. And the asthetics of it pisses me off.
Plus the Ivy and PW Moto's were my other choices for frames. I'm also fairly positive this is the last year they are going to make PW's.

why would you buy a frame with a non integrater headset.
they are just so out of date. and they look ugly.
i cant believe anyone makes frames with out integrated. why?

Cheaper Callum, not everyone tries to be mega trendy

Trendy or not, regular headtube frames aren't archaic. As long as you've got a good headset like a Solid you are set.

Or a Chris King for racers. Those headsets are amazing, also expensive.

None integrated headset frames have the advantage of being able to replace the bearing cups if they wear out or get damaged.

You don't have to race for a Chris King. But you do have to have a bit of money.
I was tempted to get one of their cassettes. They are sweet. They don't have normal drivers.

I have one on my MTB. I'm only running it because I got it for $40CAD.
And Kinetic, the rear triangle is crooked on my MacNeil too, annoying as **** eh?

Their cassettes are sooo expensive. I heard that the engagement on them is amazing. I want them.
And WTP, is there anything special with the CK headsets?

Smooth as butter, and I just torqued the ****er down till there was no wobble and then kept going to see what it would take to make it bind.
It never bound...

I think there are like 52 points of engagement on those hubs or something in that ballpark. Super nice.

paying 200 dollars for a headset is the stupidest thing ive ever heard.
admittedly they will last ages. but who actually has regular hheadset problems. and replacing bearings is not one bit challenging.
as for chris king hubs, amazing. have you heard one of the mountian bike ones. beautiful

Solid headsets for the win. King is nice, but not quite worth it in my opinion.

Wouldn't that require the use of a question mark? I should be getting most of my parts in tomorrow. I have to go to the shop to pick up everything except my Macneil Stump post and purple Edwin grips that are coming via mail. Riding tomorrow. Ballinnnn.

I would be riding today, but I exploded my front hub last night something fierce, and I don't know where the purple bike is so I cant take the Hoffman Generator off the front.
FitRider 921
07-15-07, 02:35 PM
I was thinking about getting a Generator for the back since it's so cheap. If I did that, then I would have a bit more money for a better hub. As of now, I'm really looking at an Anorexia or Mix hub to a Hazard Light with DT spokes.

07-15-07, 02:54 PM
They're nice rims, and a lot like the Hazard. The Mix hub is also nice, thats a wheel I would definatley pimp.
FitRider 921
07-15-07, 03:05 PM
It wouldn't be too smart to buy a wheel anytime soon since Interbike is coming. I'm interested in all of the new hubs.

I'm probably just going to ride the MacNeil into the ground and then build another bike.

I'll keep some parts, like my bars, seat, post, pedals, stem and brakes, but everything else will be new.
My goal would be in the 20lb range but I don't know how obtainable that is with the parts I'm keeping.

I really do need a new frame. All of the grinding I've done has bent the dropouts and it took an hour to grind, bend, and file down the dropouts so I could get my wheel off.

But you also told me that it takes you like an hour and a half just to cut yer damn bars. That's insane. It took me like 2 DragonForce songs. (Approx. 15 minutes.)

My dad actually worked on the frame, and the dropouts were extremely bent. I have a pretty bad hacksaw so it does take quite a while.

Cutting your wrists doesn't make you rebellious, and all you need to do to get your rear wheel off when your dropouts are pinched/bent closed is stick something in the end of the drop it and pry it open. It takes like 2 seconds. Pinched dropout happen on even expensive frames. Also hacksaw blades are like 50 cents.
FitRider 921
07-17-07, 05:28 PM
The wedging of something into the dropouts and prying it out didn't work. There were many things tried, but eventually it turned out okay. I'm just not looking forward to trying to take off my wheel next time.

So you getting the ****hawk?
FitRider 921
07-17-07, 06:29 PM
No, but I am considering the Megatron. The ****hawk has too short of chainstays, and I would have to buy a new headset, as well as the toptube being a bit longer than the Megatron. The Megatron makes more sense for me.
