Professional Cycling For the Fans - Is the Tour de France a Road Bike Race?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

There's apparently been a lot of contention on this utterly confusing  definition of the Tour de France here on the "Road Bike Racing" board. So...

Hmmm, you seem to be voting no with this post yet, oddly, there's no "no" vote in the poll. Did you forget to vote?

why did they make a dedicated forum for the tour de france if it was supposed to just be posted about in road bike racing instead?

I have no idea, but are you saying that you actually tell people on the street that the TDF is not a road race because bikeforums.net has a "dedicated" board for it?

So all the people who watch bike racing once a year can congregate there instead of ruining this forum.
there's no "no" vote in the poll
So everyone's got to agree with you because of your remarkable sophistry. We get it.

What exactly is a manatee? Is it related more to the walrus or to some other sea creature?

LOL. OK, explain to me why there were ZERO complaints about all the Giro threads in "Road Bike Racing" but when it's the TDF, suddenly it's not a road race?

It's the cow of the sea (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/dugong/). If any of you are at work, I strongly recommend you load the link...crank up your speakers, and the leave for lunch.

For those of us who can't see the live coverage in the morning and can't watch streaming video while at work, the spoilers that you seem to enjoy posting in this forum are very annoying. Is that so hard to grasp? I really enjoy riding home, getting cleaned up, making dinner and sitting down to watch the coverage fresh even if it is a replay.
As to your point about the Giro, we weren't lucky enough to have TV coverage of every stage of the race, so I (and I'm sure many others) followed the race online during the day.

How are you not getting it? There's a dedicated forum to the Tour de France. People talked about the Giro in "Road Bike Racing" because out of all the options, it was most fitting. There is, however, a more fitting forum for the Tour de France. It's called the "Tour de France" forum. It's really, really simple.

Whenever I post a spoiler thread I put the word "spoiler" in the title.

The Tour de France isn't just a "Road Race", but a three-week-long spectacle that's only marred by one rest day this year (not counting yesterday's stage).
That said, I really don't care where the threads go - as long as I can find them.

And the objection to putting TDF threads in the TDF forum would be?

incorrect. there are two rest days.
July 16th and the 24th.
Dang. I'll have to work on the 16th after all. I thought it was odd to not have a 2nd rest day when I though t I worked it all out (apparently too late) the other night. :(
