What in your opinion was Phil Liggett's best commentating call?
For me it was during the 2003 Tour when he warned of the slippery conditions of the hot tar on a descent, 20 seconds before Joseba Beloki's ill-fated crash and Lance's famous cyclocross get off. Uncanny, the man must have a crystal ball.
The worst was when the gallery of commentators was asked their favorite Tour moment of all time. Phil said it was George Hincapie's 2005 mountain top stage win. I could not believe it! That was the ugliest example of wheel sucking I had ever seen in the Tour de France!

My favorite Phil commentary was during 98 or 99 Liege-Bastogne-Liege:
Here we are atop of the Côte de la Vecquée, this rider looks as he's done, it's Hamburger.

I liked when Paul confused Phil with Paul at the beginning of this year's prologue.
His worst call happens about every other day when he miss calls who's about to win the sprint. I realize it's very hard to do what he does, and I enjoy listening to him, but Phil misses what's going on in sprint finishes quite a bit.

every commentator there knew that road was melting and slippery.
Phil may have seen someone's rear tire step out a bit and therefore made the comment before the crash. But it did seem like precognition.

I rode there that day, and had my own encounter with slippery tar, fortunately with less incident.

What are some other good (and bad) calls Phil Liggett has made? I am certain that I have not heard them all.

I'm just grateful theres been no 'McEwan takes off his Harry Potter cloak of invisibility' comments. Well, none that I've heard.

i wish there was a webpage with audio clips. Feature some like "he's dancing on the pedals now." etc

Is this related to the Paul 'n' Phil drinking game?
"Something special" -- Drink!
"The peleton is angry" -- Drink!
"Dancing on his pedals" -- Drink!

While we're on commentators, could someone (once they've pardoned me for highjacking the thread) please ask Bob Roll to stop talking with his hands? It looks like he's signing to somebody reallllllllly dumb.
