I just noticed that theres the beginning hints of some cable rub on my top tube from my cables. Being on black paint, I dont want it to get any further. Is there anything else out there besides the lizars skin carbon fiber patches that will prevent this crap? Does anyone have these things? How well do they stick on?

I used some clear packing tape.

I am currently using some little rubber covers from Jagwire that you slip over the cable housing.

I'll try to find a pic or a link. I've been using them for about 4 mos without a problem.

I've got some clear patches from Madison (www.wiggle.co.uk) for my new frame that stick well and seem pretty tough.

Man, my frame is all scarred up from cable rub. But I don't really care.. it's a mountain bike. I used pieces of electrical tape on my last bike's cable housings, but I completely forgot this time around. My paint job is so screwed now anyway that I just don't even really care anymore. I don't ride it to look pretty anyway :D

Clear packing tape should do a good job on the area the frame gets cable rub.

I don't mind a little marred up paint from some cable rubbing. I just hate it when the rubbing is so bad, it eats all the way through the aluminum. YIKES!

I've seen it too many times to mention!

Clear scotch tape or packing tape works great!

If you cable rubs all the way through the aluminum, how is a little piece of packing tape or carbon fiber patching going to stop it?

well the carbon fiber would stop it for sure. but ya , packing tape wouldent last to long. its much to thin.
