I'm curious if people are facing and chasing their new frames.

I know I will be...or my LBS will be as I don't have the tools.

Mine went together without any troubles straight out of the box. I would take a look at the threading on the BB shell.

I chased and faced my bottom bracket because:

1) I have the tool
2) I am using external cups for my bottom bracket.

The threads weren't too dirty but not as deep as the chasing bit needed to be recessed for facing. I skipped the facing and reaming of the head tube. It didn't seem necessary...

The threads on mine are basically entirely blue, so it's going to
need to be chased thoroughly before I mount the bottom bracket.
The headset I'll try and do myself, though.

My garage, two blocks west of Camp Randall on Regent Street. I can do it or you can read up (http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=97) and do it yourself.

I have the head tube reamer/facer tool but I've never used it and for some reason it scares me...

i didn't do either, and bottom bracket went in fine. However, i spent a few hours cursing myself and my 20 ton shop press trying to get the headset cups into the frame. If you have calipers, measure the cups and frame. Ideally there sould be between .004" ~ .010" interference.

my lbs did this and rust proofed the inside of the frame.

I sanded out the overspray on the inside of the headtube and my old Shimano 600 cups pressed right in with the DIY at-home headset press (large nut and bolt and two stacks of washers).

haven't got my bb and cranks yet so haven't done that but my shop didn't do anything before putting in the headset and they didn't have any trouble

I greased mine up real good.( sounds like a line from Deliverence) Everything went together just fine.

I give mine a 12 pack.
