Matthias Kessler's B-sample has also tested positive for testosterone, with an equally "exorbitantly high value" as the A-sample, according to the Sueedeutsche Zeitung, leading the newspaper to say that he had "obviously been caught in flagranti."
Kessler, who has denied doping, also gave an explanation for the positive tests. He told his attorney, Michael Lehner, that shortly before the Fleche Wallone, when he was tested positive, he swallowed the contents of four packages "with Chinese writing on them." He had received the packages from his alternative health practitioner, and assumed they were food supplements.
The German rider tested positive on April 24, and the test showed a testosterone value of 85:1, while a normal value is 4:1. Professor Wilhelm Schaenzer, leader of the Biochemistry Institute at the Sports School in Cologne, Germany, said that a natural value of over 15 to 20 is "not possible." His is currently suspended by his Astana team.
WTF? 85:1? Normal would actually be 1:1. If 15-20 were naturally possible Floyd would be off the hook.

And wow, here's a suprise...the German media has an issue with the testing procedures being conducted at the Tour:

German TV criticizes TdF doping controls

The German television channel ZDF claimed to have uncovered UCI violations of the WADA's doping control regulations. The Germans claimed that many riders who were selected for controls after stages went to the controls alone and with a significant time delay after the end of the stage.
The WADA requires that the athletes be escorted from the moment they are notified that they are to be tested.
Ullrich Hass, a sports law expert who is also a judge at the international Court of Appeals for Sport, told the ZDF that without an official escort, riders would have the chance for manipulation before giving a urine sample. The UCI did not have a comment on the situation.

100:1 T:E ratio was not uncommon before real testing started. However, Kessler is a drooling moron if he was taking testosterone and not keeping his epitosterone in check. A 85:1 T:E ratio is readily avoidable by also taking epitosterone. This is something that is routinely tested for, risking a bust so easily avoidable would be truly moronic.

The test has been done, read the original post- these samples were from April and the testing takes time.
Again, something is extremely wrong here. Either Kessler is a moron or the testing is flawed- I'm willing to entertain either assertion. However, someone this stupid shouldn't have the mental capacity to walk let alone ride a bike in a group.
According to cyclingnews.com Kessler claims it was some packets with chinese writing on it that his naturopath gave him. He didn't know it was testosterone. Lame.

1) If that's true, then Kessler is pretty lame for ingesting the contents without looking in to the ingredients further.
2) If it's a bogus cover story, then it ranks right up there with VDB's, "Those drugs are for my dog" story.

Read my post - I wasn't suggesting the two were related.

dude, 90% of the guys on this forum believe Landis's BS, why not this.
I'm sure professional athletes just randomly ingest packets of stuff they can't read.

It's substantially more believable then any of the crap landis spewed. Doesn't make him any less guilty though.

I saw that packet of stuff he ingested with the Chinese writing. It was in the hotel room he stayed in and it also had some English writing on it.
It was called "TOOTHPASTE"

Astana fires Kessler after positive B-sample
Team Astana has fired Matthias Kessler following the positive results of his B-sample, the team announced Friday. Swiss Cycling, the national federation responsible for Kessler, had earlier in the day officially announced the results of the B-sample.
"The B-sample confirms the A-sample," said Lorenz Schlaefli, the director of Swiss Cycling. Kessler is a German citizen who lives in Switzerland and therefore rides under a Swiss license.
It was announced two weeks ago that Kessler had tested positive for testosterone in a test before the Fleche Wallonne. He has always maintained his innocence.

That's some brilliant marketing department. Imagine a toothpaste that helps fight cavities, prevents plaque build up, gives you minty fresh breath, and increases your testosterone level to 85 times the natural level! It's Aqua Fresh Pecs!

So, is he a bigger idiot for taking a questionable substance or for believing we'd believe this lame story?
Now he knows to never take sweets from strangers.
But strangers always have the very best candy!
