its not as if a 15 year old huffy has somehow aged to perfection. it was a piece of ***** then and an even bigger piece of ***** now that bikes have advanced far beyond frames that are simply clamped together.

…some people just don't know true quality american craftsmanship when they see it.

Though that road huffy is actually pretty awesome. i think this is the best Huffy i've seen. It was raced in the 2002 SS world championships. Based on the Craigslist post I'd guess this SS is worth 10 thousand at least.

I don't remember who actually made the frame, but in short, Huffy paid a large sum of money to get their name on that bike.

damn, you got a good deal on that roadmaster!
Two things:
1) That Serotta "Huffy", I want it.
2) I love how that cragislist ad mentions its awesome "Derailleur gearing system" and "Dual caliper handbrakes for smooth, sure stops". Really? the bike has derailleurs and brakes! it had better for a g stack.

I believe that was Serotta who made the Huffy frames. At least they did for the old 7-11 team. I doubt that they paid that large a sum of money, since it was pretty common for small custom builders to make frames for larger teams back in the day. Merckx did his hour record on a Colnago with Windsor stickers on it.

Well in general bicycle racing doesn't involve large sums of money compared to other sports.
Thanks for spotting the framemaker! I'm still not familiar with all the smaller companies.

lawyer lips, more or less. there's an extra bracket that slips into that hole, making it so the wheel wont slip out even if its not properly tightened.

i love the idea that such safety features were needed on very low end bikes. what kind of jackass puts on a wheel and forgets to tighten it?! on the other hand, i have seen people loose their front wheels and eat ***** and its by far the funniest way a person can crash. observe:

I like how he says he found it in an abandoned store. Translation: a bum left this in his house and I lifted it.

I'm pretty sure you have Nader to thank for lawyer lips. I guess there were some issues with QR wheels coming off when cars were on roof racks?

Wasn't NJ trying to ban QR wheels? Makes lawyer lips look downright reasonable.

NJ did ban QR wheels. You gotta love this state.

I'm going to correct myself, because I just read that it was Roland Della Santa who made the Huffy frames. Let the record be set straight!

a co-worker and i just called this guy. he's older, totally serious about this, and totally out of his gord. he was rambling on about antique lamps and 8-tracks and s**t. ridiculous. he claims a schwinn dealer told him he could get that amount for it, and that he paid "well over $100 for it".
