Bibs! Especially if you are a clyde and don't want the plumbers dilemma! Also, the shorts sometimes roll as you all know. Yup, definitely bibs!:)

Just how big an old boy are you anyway? If you have a major gut, that comes into consideration. Bibs stay up, they can't help it. I wear both and am coming to actually prefer regular shorts when it's really hot.

I am down around a 35 waist with a small spare tire, but I want to loose about 45 more pounds. I would probably buy a large short (36-38 waist) and hopefully be able to wear it for quite some time. I purchased a wal-mart shirt that I will try out when it gets warmer. Still don't own bicycle shorts, but can't say that I need them yet, because I only get about 30 minutes of bike time per day with our busy schedule.

I got to try out the wicking shirt from Wal-Mart. It is 100% polyster and was fine on the bike. I bought and XL, but it is a little big, so my next ones will only be L. Yes, I am still at 240 pounds at 6'3" and my goal is 45 pounds away by the end of 2007 so I have a long way to go.

The shirt is sleeveless, but it doesn't absorb the sweat like my cotton t-shirts do or did. I did have a problem with the shirt rubbing on my already sun burned nipples and causing some pain, but I am sure the cotton "T" would have been worse. No I don't wear a man-bra either. I did have my HRM on though.

I am buying shorts only after talking to a few other riders locally. If I don't like them, I will try bib shorts when I order the next size smaller.

Depends on the shorts and the bibs. Mostly I prefer bibs, but you can't beat the convenience of shorts. I'll generally go with the bib when riding over an hour or so.

I don't understand. I'm uber-clyde....started with 3x aerotech shorts at about 360 pounds or so. I've never had my shorts "roll" on me. Are you guys sure you're wearing them right?

I personally prefer the bibs because I can breath better in them, no elastic waistband to restrict the abdomen during the respiration cycle. Then there's the additional benefit of not slipping down and causing me to expose a half moon!:eek:

Which one?

I think it's really personal opinion, so buy one pair of each, and try them both, each has advantages and disadvantages, see which you like better.

Bibs, advantages:
* no waist band rollover.
* no peep show for the trucker behind you.:eek:

Shorts, advantages:
* Can be worn under regular shorts or pants without making you look really, really dorky.
* Doesn't make you look like a member of the Soviet weight lifting team.
