I'm new to Tri/Du and had a specific question about shortening T2. Lacing up my running shoes takes too much time. :) Is there some sort of adaptor out there which latches into the holes where the laces go and then zips up or velcro's down the center of the shoe? I've seen some people with tri specific shoes which have a velcro strap instead of laces, but I don't want to buy new shoes.
Elastic laces is all you need.
Go to any Triathlon store and pick up a set. They come in many different styles but simply its just elastic cord and a toggle. Easy enough to 'make' yourself...

I have my tri-clients practice unstrapping, and removing bike shoes on the fly as T2 approaches. They then pedal for a few 00 meters, and finally do a rolling dismount while their feet are on top of the shoes.
We also practice a wet foot entry, on the fly, with shoes clipped in. This skill causes T times to fall significantly.

Nice tip - I might try that in future bricks.
As for running shoes, elastic laces make my feet cramp or they fall off, I just can't get the tension right. So I've used lace locks (those toggles you get on rucksacks) and cut the laces down. About the same speed.
As for results from entering and exiting clipped shoes on the fly...
I have a client who dropped her T1 time from 3min. down to :50 secs.
Her T2 down to :51 from 3:10 last Sunday.
Both from the same race a year ago.
