Check out that video.

Whats up with the way Dave was answering? Seems like he didn't think so highly of Fabby when he told him what he will think about the finish.

It was kind of weird...

my thought is you are correct. he knows Fabby really isnt a GC contender and he doesnt like wasting energy this early on to protect yellow for a guy who cant climb. plus, he has less to give as he is coming off the Giro and DL. later.

Forget that junk. He's probably punking Vs. DZ knows his job and protecting the Yellow is huge part of that.

Check out the stage Four Zabriskie Diary on VeloNews (http://www.velonews.com/vntv/?Art_ID=1141). He got a basket of apples!

"They're gonna taste really good after the race". Classic. Z's dry sense of humor is historic.

Linky?
just go to the link for versus and click on daily video, after that look at the 8th or so one which says Interview with Dave Z.

It was just so strange the way he was answering questions.

Have you ever heard Dave in an interview? It's classic Z.

Another lovely DZ nugget...

Interview after Stage one, asking about how he lost a bit of time:
"I take no shame in losing time; I actually enjoy losing time..."

I got the impression that the interviewer was kind of saying "What's the matter Dave", from the tone of his voice. As if he'd forgotten Dave has a job to do which wastes his energy working for the GC contenders on his team. He's beat up from running water and protecting the GC guys.

Plus maybe he's a little burned out from recent races.
