Just another new guy here, I'm from Houston and my name is Nate. My friends from my truck club got me into cycling after nearly two years of pointing out all the right reasons of why I should be on a bike. :) I'm a paramedic and a student, and I also co-own a screen printing shop. So somewhere between all of that I still find time to knock out some miles.

Hello dr. nate, what kind of bike have you got? Check out the Texas regional forum if you want to know what's happening in the Lone Star State.

Welcome to BF!

It's a K2 Mach 1.0 from REI; I went the cheaper route to see if I would even be able to do it. I had to stop running because of a bad knee...hasn't been a problem yet on the bike.

I'm a paramedic for the City of South Houston (which everyone thinks is HFD). I live in Katy/West Houston though. I'm a business major at UST (St. Thomas), and got into screen printing as a way to support my hobbies.

Funny how people think SoHo is part of Htwn. I work just behind Bayshore, and live here in Pasadena. If you ever have a chance, and want to get a lunch time ride in, let me know.

Edit: I had asked HFD, cuz your story sounds like my Brother's.

I've never really ever thought of riding in Pasadena or SoHo; I've seen the way people drive (and the result). I know that the nicer side (Beltway/Fairmont) has better roads, but I don't get over that way to much. I'm also the only person in SoHo who doesn't speak spanish. :(

'Sup, welcome to the forum. LOTS of good info on here, even if the forums do seem very segregated sometimes. (e.g. anti-spandex, anti-hipster, anti-oldguy/fred/commuter, anti-electric bike)
:D

Hey fellow Houstonian. I am in Sugar Land and man is it hot? So I suppose you are a roadie? I have been making the best of what I can here, mostly road and some trails when its dry enough. Seems like not speaking espanol is a rare thing down here.

I hope I see the day we get bike lanes or just some respect out on the roads. I grew up in Littleton, CO where those are plentiful, came her and Nada. Oops, guess I do speak spanish.

Yeah I will, but for the next year it will have to do. I will be getting engaged, buying a house, etc... When I do it won't be from REI, they just had a good price and I am new to the sport.

Next upgrade is shoes and pedals. :)
