Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Looking for a stem 1-18thinch, black. OBS

Having a bit of trouble finding the right stem at OBS. Looking for a stem that is 1-1/8th inch, 90mm, 105 deg, and black. The salsa stems are pretty nice, but again, I cant find a 1-1/8th inch. Any positive and helpful input is appreciated. Thanks, -Dave

105deg 90mm in both 25.4 and 26.0.

Along with 4,000 other brands. Dimension makes a 107deg if you want cheap.

I run a Deda Murex-- but you have a 1 1/8" steerer? Never heard of that on a threaded fork.

It might just be easier to get a 1 1/8" non-threaded fork and headset. 1 1/8" threaded was never a very common size and is now obsolete.

Well its the size I got on my group buy frame. Thought it would be nice to be able to use my other stems if I wanted variations, so i got that frame to match. Specs via IRO, headtube sized for a 1-1/8" head set, threaded, 53cm. I hate the look of threadless stems, its just the bots in the back that I dont like. I enjoy the one piece look of threaded stems, how are there none out there in 1-1/8th?

1 1/8 quill was a mountain standard for a while so what's out there mainly are long, rising stems with 25.4 bar clamps like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270143689615). 90mm is going to be tough to come by, but I'm sure it can be done. If you want silver, look for a Control Tech.

I agree with the others on the non-practicality of this though. You will spend more money trying to make this happen than you did on the frame.

+1 on the control tech recomendation... but also agree, it will be hard to find. most MTB stems of the 90's were in the 120-130 range. 90 was really rare to find.

I just picked up one of these, can't recommend it enough if the style and numbers are to your liking. Strong as hell, doubt I'll be busting this stem anytime soon.

Have you gotten your frame yet? This combination does not exist for the group buy. I doubt anyone makes a threaded 1-1/8" fork anymore. Are you planning on cutting threads on the stock fork?

I have a silver 1 1/8" quill stem from a late 90's vintage mountain bike. I don't have the exact specs but i think it has a slight positive rise and I'm thinking it's probably takes a 25.4mm handle bar (again, a mtn bike stem). It's yours if you want it.

You other options might be to use a 1 1/8" quill to threadless adapter like these at cambia bike (http://www.cambriabike.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=68&cat=MTB+Quill+Stems)

Yes I have gotten my frame. Are you sure the frames didnt come in that size? If so Ive been going nuts for nothing... Thanks everyone for the input. How do I tell weather its threaded or threadless? Im getting the adapter for threadless if it is threaded.


Edit: I just tried to put a 1 1/8th threaded 3TTT stem and it didnt fit. Also The steerer is like a foot and a half long. Things are looking to be threadless, glad I noticed before I started ordering parts.

a threadless fork will be thread-less
