I did my first ride today. I did 10 miles at an average of 13.3mph. I'm pumped! (sore also)

Cool beans! Great job as well, now take a hot soak and do a light ride tomorrow, no more than 3 miles at a slow and easy pace to work the lactic acid out of the muscles.

Wow, that is a great avg. for your first ride, and great distance too.

+1

My first solo ride was maybe about 4 miles and I think I was riding well over a year before I could even consider an average over 12.

wow, very nice job. Agree with Tom, make sure to go for a short slow ride tomorrow, don't want to over do and completely stress the body out to quick

Good effort mate.

Now, if I flick through my training diary ... oh okay, scroll the excel spreadsheet back to the top, I note that my first ride (after being off the bike for a few years) was a whole 3.2km and the note was 'totally stuffed '

Be prepared for signs of overdoing it - it's very easy, but with that start, you'll do well :D

Hey, I just got done with a "9.2"mile averaging 14.8 mph and feel great. Its a hard feat to do in Houston area due to traffic, lack of bike lanes and sidewalks, 94 degrees, 58% humidity. But I did it, and that all that matters. I think I'll go to a park this weekend and do a 10 mile ride.
