Hey back at you!
I believe it is TT style and it's over by Winton Woods. Have fun. I'll be at the RAIN ride with some of my Seven Hills teammates putting the hammer down on 160 miles of Indiana!

Email Susan Schultz for more info - I'll leave her address in your pm's

The hill climb starts at 6:30 Friday. It's TT format, but I don't know what street. Someone said "three minutes of pain" so I think it's only about 1/2-mile long, probably 8-10% grade. Registration is at Grove & Woodlawn Blvd.

Unfortunately, that's all I know, since I haven't done it before.

What I want to know is how big the "little rise to the start/finish" listed on the flyer is(during the crit). Is it as big as Hyde Park's hill, or more Like Team Dayton Crit or Ault Park hill?

Bigger and longer than team Dayton's hill. As long or longer than Ault park, but not as steep. I've never been to Hyde Park. The finish is fast and slightly downhill, but he who gets up the hill in the first 10 spots will have the best chance to win.

The hill climb is basically a half mile uphill time trial. Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Mayview+Forest+Dr+%26+Woodlawn+Blvd,+Cincinnati,+OH+45215&geocode=&daddr=tanager+ln&f=d&hl=en&sll=39.25086,-84.47452&sspn=0.012163,0.021608&ie=UTF8&ll=39.250635,-84.479385&spn=0.012163,0.021608&z=16&om=0)

The race itself is a rectangle with a rise on one leg, a downhill on another, and some flat in between. The corners are tight, and the hill on Riddle Road doesn't look like much at first, but it's is enough to split up the group in a race. I'd say it's similar to Shady Lane in the Hyde Park Blast, because you take a sharp turn into it at Springfield Pike, then take another sharp turn off the hill onto Woodlawn Blvd. There's a nice downhill on Grove Road, but you can't use it much because of the turn onto Springfield Pike at the bottom. Springfield Pike is flat, and Woodlawn Blvd rolls slightly. You can get a sense of what the terrain near the start/finish is like in the photos I took last year. Link (http://jjakucyk.exposuremanager.com/g/woodlawn2006)

Thanks Jeffery. FWIW, Kippy says it's a MILD incline on the flyer though. Which one of you is BS'ing me?

:D

I guess I'll drag myself down there from Dayton and see for myself!

When have you EVER trusted a course description that called a hill anything but horrendously painful? :p

or he who attacks on the hill, muaahhhahaha. jk. i just got back from the hill climb. it wasn't a super big hill so much as it was just crush your legs as much as you can for 2 minutes. i ended up riding it in 1:57 which was good enough for 5th (just barely in the money). first and second places were two of my cat 2 teammates who did it in 1:51. side note for cslone: i was all little ring (qring) it was very nice.

okay onto scoping out the crit course. the hill appears to be just like you said, longer and bigger then the dayton crit hill, but less steep i think. also it is right before a turn instead of right after, so the acceleration might not have to be so great to get up, but that last corner to the finish is critical to be in a good position, as the accordion will be amplified by the climb. good luck everybody. i am 50/50 about going to woodlawn or sugar grove --> i will place better at sugar grove, but it is a lot further away. any recomendations for that conundrum are appreciated.

Went to Woodlawn, hill wasn't too bad. I took 8th, was scored as 6th initially, someone questioned it, we all got bumperd back 4 places, so I ended up 10th.

Man, talk about a roller coaster of emotions. :D

Oh well, did some good blocking for out teammate who took the win. All is well in Team Dayton-land. On to tomorrow.

Nice job on the climb Bill. That's what you were built for. You racing tomorrow?

so i woke up this morning and decided that i was just going to suck it up, and do woodlawn. so in typical bill fashion, i roll down 75 to the woodlawn exit, and instantly realize thati forgot my uniform. ouch. by the time i get to my house, the race is 20 minutes away, and registration has ended. i throw my stuff un the car and head north for the columbus race with CLIMBS! i ended up taking 4th and felt really strong leading in to tomorrow. i just need 1 point and then i can upgrade. i just need to upgrade and then i can fly to italy to see my gf. well an upgrade and someone to pay for my airplane ticket.

congrats on the 6-10th place. (i suggest that if anyone asks you which place, you merely reply: "6th through 10th.... ALL OF THEM!") congrats on the team victory as well. was it a breakaway then?
