I have seen a few pics but I don't have any to show you. I don't think it is too awfully rare but I may be mistaken. As far as what year I'd need pics of your bike to tell you.
i wish i had a picture.that was a great bike.well thank you for your help.
First-time poster resurrecting this thread because I recently acquired a GT Performer from about the same time period although mine's orange. =o/
Anyway, it has these plastic wheels that I need to replace. They're all messed up (warped or something) and they are going to get me killed at high speeds. Other than that though, I like the bike and think it definitely feels legit when hopping and putting it through it's paces...as much as I can put it through 'paces' that is. heh heh 34.5 pounds though!
Questions:
1) Is the GT Performer circa late '90s a 'good' bike? That's a wildly subjective question, I know, but curious to hear from the board.
2) What should it cost (about) to throw some new wheels on it considering I'm not competing or anything but do like to jump around and hit some rocky trails and such. Local shop estimated ~$100.
3a) In general, are plastic wheels heavy? They seem like they weigh a lot when taken off.
3b) Do you think it could trim a couple pounds with spoked rims? BTW I DO workout but still want it lighter! =oD
Thanks in advance
Speak of the devil...
This all black GT Performer just showed up on my local craigslist with pics. The post says that its 10 years old so this should be just about what you're looking for.
