Well, here 'tis, my new bike...

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=49571&stc=1&d=1184303951

Time VXS, with Campy '07 Record groupset, and Record/Open Pro wheels. :D

After way too many years away from road bikes, I started riding again last fall. I blame it on a buddy who bequeathed his Trek to me after slinking off with an Orbea. It kinda grew on me, I started riding alot, and of course needed to learn more.

Then I found this place.

This place is the conduit to both a wealth of knowledge and a serious case of bike lust. They should really warn you to hide your wallet when sign on to this website. Really, really. ;)

So far, this bike has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's light, fast, quick handling, and just a ton of fun to ride. The groupset is nearly invisible- it just works. With no hitch in shifting and no problems braking, the thing goes when I do and stops when I want it to. I expected to be really impressed with the Record stuff, and it's almost disappointing that it just disappears beneath you. I know that's a *good thing*, but still...

I put the thing together myself, and it was a slow, but interesting process. Found the frame, scrounged the groupset and wheels, and did a HUGE amount of reading and consulting to get it right. Not something I wanted to screw up. Sugan (sp?), one of the great guys at Veloworx in MDR helped finish it off for me. He installed the chain, checked my work, and made some necessary adjustments

I'm still dialing in the fit, and might eventually break down and consult with one of the local fitting gurus, but for now I'm going to ride it as much as time and other obligations permit.

It really is like a dream...

I'm not sure if you got the memo, but those Time frames are defective...

You're going to have to send it to me to properly dispose of.

Beauty! Good choice on the Record. I've got 06 Chorus on my main ride. It has all but converted me from a lifelong Shimano guy.

Thanks for all the comments! I blame you guys for feeding the obsession. :p

This bike just about pegged the divorce meter, but we got through it. I don't expect to be doing much bike shopping for a long while (though I did pick up some bibs today :) ). One reason I went with Record is because this just might be the last groupset I buy until I'm old enough to start riding a three-wheeler.

Funny thing about this build is that the frame, the groupset and the wheels all came through my local Performance store. The frame is new-old-stock from before Performance took over this store. It used to be a Supergo store, and apparently had better inventory then... I was able to wait until Performance had a 25% points back sale on the frame, and then used the points back to get the groupset and then the wheels at a substantial savings. I also found out the Santa Monica store has an in-store sale of 10% off from noon-2 every Tuesday. It all adds up!

Oh, and Psydotek- I keep looking for the bike to explode or something, but it just won't. I'll let you know when it does. ;)

Besides, Joy, I couldn't let you suffer all alone with your new Campy ride.

It is an exquisite kind of suffering, isn't it?! :p ;)

Congrats again... will look for you and the new bling on the bike path!
