Yes I will admit in the grand scheme of things colored spokes are not very important, but if done right I think it looks damn cool. I saw a guy on the trail yesterday on a light blue Cervelo P3 with medium blue spokes. The light blue with all the black parts with the blue spokes just looked really awsome. And not long before that, there was a gal on a black bike (not sure which) with rims that had tasteful yellow graphics on them with yellow spokes. Again, it just looked really cool.
I'm not into flash, but I think if done subtle it could look good. Do they have these custom painted or can you buy them that way?

I would imagine you could buy colored spokes.
you can buy spokes from your LBS. They come in many colors..
I've seen, yellow, red, orange, green, blue, sky blue, grey, white, titanuim(color), purple?violet, black, etc...
You can even combine colors if you like...
They'll probably have to special order them. Very few shops have enough money to invest in spoke inventory. There are probably 750 to a thousand different sizes, types and colors. You can even get rainbow colored spokes.
