I've got the center pull Tektros on my Cross Check, but curious about what others use (Shorties, etc.). Also, does anyone make a cross bike with side-pull brake mounts?

Thanks!

Paul touring canti's. The bees' knees.

Mmmm, nice. Not cheap, either, eh? I do like, tho. I also like the warning on the Neo Retro's: "These are very powerful brakes, and have a tendency to over power thin tubed frames (in any material)". Dang.

You mean cantilevers.

I prefer the wide, old style, cantilevers. Have a set of Radius on one bike now. They actually work very well for a $40.00 set of brakes. I would like to try a set of Shimano's new BR550 brales though.

Lots of people complain about cantis. I found they take a little longe to set up than V-brakes but work very well. Another advantage is they can be used with brifters and regular road bike brake levers. Travel Agents are not an elegant solution IMO.

You could also try Campagnolo or Tektro mini-v's. They have a shorter arm, and apparently work with road levers.

I just installed some Tektro mini- V's on my new Scattante cross frame. They work way better than the canti's I had on there before. Night and day. I am using the Cane Creek brakelevers. I got the brakes new on Ebay for somthing like $26 for the pair.
