I may take another ride later this afternoon, when it cools down a bit. Nice ride this morning!

I rode the train to work
I forgot! We rode only 9 miles this morning... my legs felt like they weren't quite with me this morning. It's already 95 here and it's not even noon yet.....
I remembered, but didn't want to.

I did the 25 mile club ride on one of the local rail-to-trails. It rained earlier this morning so I took the Trek 1800C which is setup with a rear rack to keep the spray off me. This trail goes through a rural area with plenty of bunnies and wild flowers.

For the third time this week, as I approach the Shell station where I get apple juice on my way to work, it begins to rain. I'm never getting rained on elsewhere, but as I approach the station, the downpour begins. God does indeed have a sense of humor.

Let' see...46.6 mile training ride list night (those guys are fast!) and a 59.6 mile recovery ride this morning....Does that count as a century? (started at 6:30 p.m., finished at 1 p.m. for an average of 5.7 mph--including 7 hours of sleep)...should earn me Fred status, but no 13 credit.

For all of you who did at least 13 miles today and LAUGHED at the dangers of Friday the 13th, here's some pie. And there's more where that came from...

I rode 25 minutes on rollers, because I'm one of the 'sensitive people' they always say should stay inside when the air is polluted.
If me on rollers isn't laughing in the face of danger, nothing is!

Just got back and no computer on the bike yet. Another trip to the lbs tomorrow.
The ride I did is just 25 miles so made a diversion to take in at least one extra mile. Only fruit cake and a coffee. BUT counted 13 mainly Black bikes tonight- May have been more more but I stopped counting when I reached the target. Only White one I saw was a Kids BMX.
Just settling down now to A Thai Curry and a coffee.

Ohhh... right, today is Friday the 13th.
How silly of me to forget.
Maybe I'll just do 14 miles tomorrow, then...

I rode with a fellow this morning who is training to ride his age. He turns 80 in August. Judging by the muscle development in his legs, I'd say his chances are excellent.

Scary. Get this. I forgot about the 13th. I rode up "the old road", the one with the sign saying "15% Grade next 3 miles, to the summit. I had to be home by noon, so I didn't do the entire 40 mile loop, but turned around and did an out-n-back. My odometer reading as I pulled into my driveway: 31.13!
Here is a map of my ride:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1135173
And here is a picture of the view from the summit. If you look way down in the middle, there is a clearing. That's roughly from whence I started.

This is one brutal climb. Once you get started on the real climb, the "respite" is when it levels to about 10% for a few feet. There is a section in the middle that must be 18%. I try to climb it weekly, but it's more like monthly.

Nice climb... more -way more- than I can handle, that's for sure.

My pics don't belong in the same league w/the others I've seen posted here, but here are a couple snapshots from my ride today in beautiful NE Ohio, 27.3 miles under gorgeous azure skies.
It's a 50/50 chance, but I bet you wouldn't be able to pick which one of my friends is the former cat 1 time trialist.....I'm the one with the pink flowered jersey :p

MO4GK,
Your pictures are in the same league. We love to see pictures of the actual 50+ BFers. Names with faces.

Just don't let Tom see the Pink top= I dont want anything Pink on the Tandem when it does Ventoux next year as he is going on the front - just so I can prove to the rest of you that he can pedal. Someone has to take the pics.

The day's not over yet, there's still hope. But my computer does not display enough digits - guess I'll have to get a new computer! Wait, that's a different thread

I rode my MTB from the shed to my car after work today to have it ready to drive to a new set of trails tomorrow. I would estimate about 0.013 miles. :)
I rode 7.5 miles from my office to the car dealer to pick up my car after servicing.

I am having an all out fight with my boss in Germany. Nasty e-mails flying back and forth.
My Corporation is doing the same B.S. as you read about USA Corporations.
My solution how to deal with it?
Take off at noon and bike 50 miles as fast as I can today, yesterday and past Monday.

Zero! But today is a rest day- tomorrow is the Tour de Donut. 30 mile shotgun start race, with two rest stops at 10 and 20 miles. Rest stops are stocked with glazed donuts. They take 5 minutes off your actual time for each donut you eat. It's an absolute hoot!

Thats it- You missed the ride because today you are going to enjoy yourself. As penance- Or further enjoyment of the ride- You have to eat 13 donuts. That should just about put the average up to about 40mph.

I woke up this morning with a slight sore throat. I was caught up with work, so I decided to go for a short ride to hopefully get better. I ended up doing 58 miles, albeit slowly. Now I have a really sore throat. But for some reason, I think the ride was worth it.
