So my neighbors make the news....(don't know them personally)
"Two American brothers were gored Thursday during the longest and
bloodiest morning bull run at the San Fermin festival in the northeastern
city of Pamplona. Lawrence Lenahan, 26, of Hermosa Beach, Calif. and
Michael Lenahan, 23, of Philadelphia, Pa. were gored by a bull who strayed
from the pack, turned around and ran the wrong way. The older brother
suffered an eight-inch (20-centimeter) goring in the left buttock after
a dangerous sharp right turn in the course Lenahan described as a 'dead
man's curve.' The younger brother was injured shortly before the bull
ring, the end point of the daily runs, after the bulls horn entered
beneath his skin in his right shin."

The pic with the bull's horns all up in there is like cow porn. I really can't stand to even look at. <stares, looks away, stares some more...>

He appears quite proud.
He appears quite proud.
It's not every day you get to play teeter totter with a stranger, a bull, and sixteen inches of horn.

Dunno... he looks weak and drugged up...the word "goofy" comes to mind.

Ooooh...them there fightin' words. :p Although, I think the real pusses are those who get into the crowd and run from bulls that are frightened animals simply doing what comes natural to them under very stressful conditions. I'm so glad those 5,000 humans get such a kick out running from 8 big scary bulls. I get a kick out reading one or two of them got their asses pierced for being dumb enough to do it.:D

Agreed, the bulls always lose in the end, so I'm happy any time they get a score.

i guarantee magicant pussed out and didn't try it. And risk screwing up a ride through the Pyrenees? No thanks... I'll stick to the primary goal of riding my bike.
I'll be safe in my balcony seat for the goring in about 5 hours. Which means it's time for me to go to sleep.

Relative to the odor of all the attendees and their 48 hour straight partying, the bull was a breath of fresh air.

I'm being good, but having fun. The party here is unbelievable. I'm not kidding, it's far beyond anything I saw in Rio for Carnaval. Not as many people as in Rio, but they are seriously drinking day and night, sleeping in the parks, and other things they do right in the middle of the street. Rio was wild & crazy, but somewhat restrained as far as alcohol consumption goes (ie. they drank, celebrated and got naked, but didn't throw up and pass out throughout the city). This is just a drunk fest like Mardi Gras with bulls being the excuse for it. Not that it's not interesting, but I passed that phase of my life a while back.
I had expected it would be a testosterone driven event, and the running certainly is, but 90% of the couple hundred thousand people in town are age 18 - 30 and pretty evenly split male/female.
First day on the bike is tomorrow - can't wait! That's the part I'm really looking forward to.
