It is on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330145775508&rd=1&rd=1 The same vendor has a 500 watt motor but it is only 36 volts and I prefer the 48 volt model.

I want to find a way to connect this to the front wheel of my beach bike. I have a 5 speed hub gear box on it which I want to keep intact. My goal is a pedal bicycle with electric assist, not an electric bicycle with pedal assist - ok, I know, I know the 1000 watt motor is overkill but...i am a power fiend!

Also..if I put a 5 speed hub gear box on the front wheel will it be able to handle thepower from the motor?

The 750 watt motor chain geared 6 to 1 on my razor 650 will not make it up a small hill. This same motor at 48 volts with a 48 volt controller and a 90 tooth sprocket would jam! but would be noisy and might not last too long.Yes a 3 speed Sram DD hub will work great! Just sandwich the 80 tooth sprocket between two cassette coggs and bolt them with three 1/4" bolts and slide on your motor sprocket onto the cassette hub and your set! Or broach a sprocket of your choice like the sprocket on the far right. If you only need 1 speed use the same sprocket arrangement on any Shimano type freehub body to connect a sprocket to the wheel hub.

yes, you can do the above the tire option. Yesterday I saw someone riding a bike that had an electric motor attached to the fork. The motor was positioned slightly below the level of the hub of the wheel. It was interesting because it looked like a stock made mod, not a custom mod.
