Just another "newbie?"

My sister turned me on to this website and have been reading everyone's comments for quite a while. Now that I have some questions and that I am addicted to reading - I thought I should register.

I am currently repairing my Lemond Road Bike after losing the war with a corvette. I also ride a Gary Fischer mountain bike - the old Paragon Racing Frame - a present from the Gary Fischer Co. after being rear-ended on my bike by a blue Ford Taurus.

I am a workout junkie in the South Bay Area of San Francisco, If I am not biking them I am running - or is it the other way around?

My roomates got me the nickname 2studpid2quitnow because that is how I started getting into running and cycling.

Wish me well as I tread lightly in the world of the Bike Forum!

Hey SIS! Thanks for the link - about time is right!

CHI! Once I repair my collarbone I will ride anywhere in the Bay Area! I love Skyline - as well as Mt. Diablo.

2S2QN,

Welcome to BikeForums.

I ride on Skyline a bit, too! Usually I go up and over it. I like riding up King's Mtn and heading either north or south. Up Highway 9 and then north used to be nice until they put grooves into the road. It's supposed to be fixed later this summer.

I have not yet done Mt. Diablo yet but plan to either later this month or early next. Alba Rd., in your neck of the woods, is also on my list of climbs to complete this year.

SteveE,

I did Hwy 9 about three weeks ago, very scary descent with those grooves. Have you been on Mt. Charlie, Zayante lately? It's nice in the morning because of the shade and little car traffic.

Diablo is a great ride since you can either start in Dublin or hit the Iron Horse trail up to Walnut Creek.

2S2QN,

Since I live in Cupertino, the only time I have climbed Mtn. Charlie (west side) was after a trip from home, up Old Santa Cruz Hwy, down Eureka Canyon to Corralitos, back to Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, and finally got to Mtn. Charlie with many miles under my belt and after 2PM. The small number of cars seems familiar, 'tho.

Been up Zayante a couple of times. Again, it's usually later in the ride. Last time I went we had already come over the mountains, up Jameson Creek (yikes!), down Empire Grade (Yeehaa!) into Santa Cruz. The masochists in the group continued north on Summit/Bear Creek/Skyline and finally down Hwy. 9. I wimped out and went down Bear Creek, bike path below the reservoir, into Los Gatos, and took the flat route back home.
