He will be forever judged by that time trial. I suspect he will do a little better than that one. He was a realtive newcomer to the spotlight, and he had Ullrich breathing down his neck for a podium spot. It was a lot of pressure, and he cracked. He probably learned from that, and is a better rider because of it.

Keep in mind he lost that much time to Lance Armstrong who is not riding this year. Neither is Ullrich of Basso. Vino may be out of it by then to.

8 51 57.5km in 2006 tour yeh learnt loads wasn't even a contender for overall
dont get me wrong i like to see the polka dot fighting for overall better than going away like last year on the biggest stage and making enough points
but he's goto make up a load of time and i guess now people will chase him and mark him (if they can !) seeing as last year he didnt go for overall

landis was 1 11 down pererio 2 40 (god i need to do some work !)

If you look at all of the results from the 2006 ITT lots of riders were 4 to 8 minutes down to Gonchar, Honchar or whatever they decided on. I think Landis lost over a minute to him. I am sure the 1st TT Rasmussen strolled around to lose time so they would let him go.
