Road Cycling - dura ace 25th Anniversary group

Here' a question for anyone with experience with the dura ace 25th Anniversary group. I've got the change to puchase this group released in 1998 for 500 euro's. It includes (apart from all the 'normal' components): hubs, pedals, seatpost and headset. It seems to me it's a great deal even if it's 5 years old (not used, of course, and 2x9 speed). Anybody got any comments?

And it comes in a lovely aluminium carrying case which you can turn into a brief case at some stage. €500 is a good price if unused. I suspect with 10s DA coming the owner feels theres no value in the old 9s group. Go for it.

I've seen a couple of these in their fitted cases and I think I remember one of them coming with a special edition watch. The price was well over $1000 (U.S.). The fit and finish was exceptional and looked like it was almost too pretty to use (which would be a shame).

I'd personally go for it if you can spare the cash. The technology of the 9 speed hasn't changed that much from 2003 models although I hear that Shimano is coming out with a 10-speed to compete with Campy.

If you're looking for a 9 speed DA kit, the 25th Anniversary group is a steal at 500 E and is functionally the same as current DA. It's even a bit lighter than the standard DA as it has a few more Ti bits. One of the guys who works at my local shop has a 5500 Trek built with a DA25 kit and it weighs in (lots of light parts of course) at a hair over 16 pounds for a 62cm.
