Wheel builder in LA, recommendations please!

I'm thinking of getting a set built, can you recommend any places you've had good luck at?
Also some idea of what you paid would be great (please spec hub/rims/spokes if possible)

I heard that wheelbuilder.com (http://www.wheelbuilder.com) is the way to go if I decide to build up a custom Powertap wheelset. Maybe check them out.

The question should be: Whether you want a "normal, sort of generally available" set of wheels OR you have an unusual requirement (special hubs, weight issues, racing or touring etc.).

If you have normal sort of everyday requirements, you are better off buying them "off the shelf" via a mail order outfit and there are plenty from which to select. That could and has been a thread all by itself.

If your request is a bit out of the ordinary and money is not an issue, go to Bill Ron in Redondo Beach.

Go talk to Kevin at Bicycle John's in Burbank. You will get far more value from a hand built wheel than the latest overweight un-aero color co-ordinated , over priced Mavic.

Personally I have had good luck with Jack at Coates cyclery.. Great local wheelbuilder.. Online, Mike Garcia is highly regarded and will build a set to your weight and specifications..
