Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Was gonna go see him right now in Westlake but got home from work and....well....gee....it's a 10 minute drive to B&N and I got lazy.

I highly recommend going John. I went to see him tonight at my local Barnes and Noble. Floyd was great and answered a ton of questions. Due to my arm being in a cast I was able to cut to the front of the line and Floyd spent a bit of time talking to me about my injry while getting my book signed.
Afterwards I spent about 5 minutes talking with Floyd's wife.
Very down to earth people.
Thanks for the info John. I think I'll ride over there.

I'm seriously thinking about going, even if he did dope I'd be interested in meeting him and listening to what he has to say.
EDIT TO ADD: I'm not saying he did and I'm not sure if I really care if he did or didn't.

LINE CUTTER! I bet you didn't even need a cast!
I flaked tonight.....did Floyd miss me? :)

Were there a lot of people? How long was the line for book signing?
There were about 300+ people. I got there about 5:45 and got a chair. If you weren't there over an hour early you were standing. If you didn't get there 30 mins early you were standing at the other end of the place.
OK, I am definitely going. I live a short walk away, so there is no excuse.

That's it, I'm putting my arm in a sling and renting some crutches. Anyone know a good makeup artist to put some road rash on me?
(I'm not trying to make light of your situation, awiner - just trying to crack a joke)
The crazy thing is, I just checked out his book from my local library last week . . . wonder if he'll sign a library copy?

Hey that was you? I was right infront of you. Did you end up getting your cast signed?
Floyd will sign anything. People brought jerseys, etc.. Floyd wanted to know if I wanted my cast signed too.

Ya, that was me. I just figured that out in the other thread and replied.
No, I didn't get the cast signed, just the book.
Thousand Oaks... Pasadena... where is it next? somewhere more south hopefully?
If you join the Cyclovets in SD and start doing all their rides, there's a good chance he'll show up. Last one I heard he was on was a middle of the week Wed ride. Or, you could just ride anything steep and long around Murietta, and hope he passes you, hang out on Palomar for the same thing. Eventually, you'll run into him. :) 27 minutes from the fork at S6 to the top, insane...
Large crowd. Well over 100, and that is probably very conservative. Borders originally had the table and chairs set up downstairs, with only about a dozen chairs. They moved it upstairs, added several chairs, and there were more people standing than sitting.
I was up front and got out quickly. In the 30 seconds he and I interacted, he seemed like a nice guy.
