Fifty Plus (50+) - Turned 50 yesterday

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello everyone now I feel legal posting to this forum. I ride a Specialized Ruby Expert. I also have a Trek Pilot 5.0 (all carbon), but have decided to sell that bike, I love the Ruby. Being 50 doesn't feel that old!!!!!

Heck, you're a youngster! We're all kids on wheels in this forum...Welcome!
Happy birthday. Now you will be besieged by AARP (if you haven't been already). One of the joys of becoming "mature."
Reminds me of the woman who, in response to a birthday question about what was the best thing about turning 93, said "No peer pressure."
Happy Birthday and welcome. I think I remember what it was like being 50.:)

Welcome. I hit it last January. I'm still waiting for my AARP stuff to arrive though. I must have made it onto their mailing lists by now.
Best: Cops in their 20's calling me "Sir".
Cool: Being able to walk all over Best Buy, and the blue shirts leave me alone.
Welcome, this is a fun place.

Newbie 50 shows up and shames 90% (or more) of the bikes in the group!
Sigh.
Welcome anyway. :)

I just noticed the newbie is from San Diego. Perhaps DG should be her mentor.

Happy birthday and welcome! I'm 10 months ahead of you.
All this talk about the AARP...you just have to use them to your advantage. For example, I'm going to the AARP convention in Boston in September because I got a ticket to see Rod Stewart for $25! Me and the other old farts rockin' to the oldies. It should be fun.

Hello and happy birthday! Welcome to the best darn little group on bike forum.
NICE bikes, too!
What size is the pilot you are selling? My sis is looking for a new used bike.

Most excellent, the average age here was starting to skew too high, young blood is good! Maybe we can get lower insurance rates now.

Are you a hottie? I can't tell from your avatar. Post pictures. Go to "Ladies of Foo" for inspiration. But it's not important. A gentle smile and a sweet disposition are all it really takes around here.

Happy Birthday, and welcome! This forum is one of the best perks of turning 50.
AARP isn't so bad.... Kevin Costner is on the cover of this month's issue. Paul McCartney was on the cover a few months ago. I never knew 50+ was so young.

Happy Birthday! You got two great rides. Keep 'em both and use one as your "rain" bike. It'll really annoy the folks you ride with. ;)
Welcome offcially to 50+ community. I think I got younger when I started reading most of the post on the 50+ and started riding distant miles. This is a fun forum to be associated with, believe me.

Welcome to the 50+ gang. The drum roll has begun, for the day one of your ankles goes snap. Watch your step when walking through metroparks! To quote Mammy Yokum: I has spoken! :)

Welcome to the asylum. Where did you go for your birthday ride? Did you happen to see a white Roubaix doing 100 laps around a neighborhood block?

Happy Birthday Lady Icon! Wishing you the best.
As for me, Im 55 and only two years ago I went on a self-contained bike tour from VA to CO. It was and still is one of the highlights of my entire life.
And now I'm looking forward to getting a true road bike within the next month, and I am psyched! (Probably a Trek Pilot 2.1.)
I'm not bragging about the above (well maybe a little), but it's just that bike riding has become an integral part of my life, and helps so much with my mental and physical health. And like you LadyIcon, my age just doesn't feel that old. :)
