My wife just got a Raleigh Venture, with the step through frame ("girls frame"). She had an old Trek, and an old Blackburn rack. I was hoping to reuse the rack on the new bike, but the extension bars that attached to the seat stays on the Trek are not long enough to reach the attachment points on the new bike. . .

So. . A-can I get weirdly long (and slightly curved) extension bars anywhere, or B--what is a rack that will work on this frame--without having to tilt the rack forward. She also has a Nashbar "trunk" that needs to go over the rack. It can't tilt under the seat or the trunk won't fit. I guess I could get one of these floating seat post racks, but if I could reuse the existing rack that would be preferable. . . also she may use those detachable, folding "saddlebags" for shopping once in a while----I'd prefer a rack that was fully attached--those floating ones have a max of about 25lbs capacity. . .

Any suggestions?

I dunno about a new rack, but you might check Home Depot or someplace like that for hardware you can adapt to make yours work. Off in the corner they'll have barrels or bins of miscellaneous bar stock, flat metal straps, tubing, all kinds of things. It tends to run to heavy-duty galvanized iron, but there might be something that will work.
