I crashed hard this morning.

Hit/slid accross a rock hitting my side just above my right hip (the "love handle area").

It's still almost completely numb nearly four hours after the crash - feels like it's been shot with novacaine. It has no started to bruise out either - any ideas on what's going on?

You've stunned the area where the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve exits. It is called neuropraxia of the nerve when this damage is due to sudden trauma. I see it alot in my mountain biking population. When the nerve "wakes up" or begins to heal you may notice some burning discomfort. Without examining you it's hard to tell but your history sounds like that.
