General Cycling Discussion - Bicycle Curriculum

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I work for an environmental non-profit in Brooklyn that goes into public schools and teaches kids about...well, environmentalism. We are considering putting together some in depth bike classes that we can apply to physics and engineering curriculum. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this ever being done with 7 - 12 graders? If so, point me in that direction....this could be very cool.

probably the best person to ask is John Forester

Try getting the Sprockids cycling and the curriculum material. http://www.sprockids.com/program.html
Costs $90 inc p&p
Really good stuff - I've got a (old) copy and use it here in the UK on occasion.
Forester is definitely knowledgeable about bicycles, but not a physicist or what ever. As well he is not particularly sympathetic to environmentalism, if that is your underlying focus.
