I just read the route slip.
After exiting on Harvard, if we go left on harvard there is another bike path that will take us
all the way to Portola.

Tha would keep us off 5+ miles of road.
what think you?

hhmm..
Also once on El Toro, we can get all the way to Muirlands on bike path too,
w/o crossing any road.

It is almost entirely shaded at that!

Tustin Ranch isn't too bad Sunday morning. The Pioneer stretch is nice too.

I don't have any objections to the Harvard to Portola path but if we take the El Toro to Muirlands, we'll end up skipping the Starbucks/regroup area. Either way is fine with me though. :)

Any route is fine with me,
I'm just in the habit of taking bike path when available.
Starbucks would be good...Passion/apple tea with raspberry syrup.....

I'm just following the route Tiff mapped out. Blame her. :p

Just kidding... the route seems fine to me, but if we're in a big group, I would not be opposed to any spur of the moment changes. I'm pretty clueless about the roads/bike paths out there.

+1 on that. Or at the very least take it to Bryan or Irvine, where we can jump back on Jamboree.

In celebration of two years of riding (by far the longest amount of time I've seriously attempted anything remotely athletic), I'm trying to get Vivian cleaned up to like-new condition. Unfortunately, that's not quite possible thanks to scratches in polished aluminum, some logos rubbing off, chips in clear coat, wear on the cassette, etc. But I'll do my best to make strangers think I'm just a poseur on a bike that never gets ridden.

Gah! I drank too many alcoholic beverages and I'm going to want to sleep. That, and my knee hurts due to the incorrect cleat position on my 2nd set of shoes. Those are my best excuses. I'll catch you guys next time.

You may need to go sans Road Morph for one ride. :p

Mark is a wuss, but I'm in to replace him, thus restoring balance to the Universe and ensuring good rains and bountiful harvest. Rejoice.

Along with the wear and tear, that detail will let the observant stranger know that I do indeed ride once in a while.

Chain's been meticulously cleaned. Brakes carefully readjusted. Cassette washed off. Wheels wiped down. On to the rest of the bike...

Oh great and merciful one, praise be that we may have the benefit your your vast knowledge and wisdom to over come the ravages set upon us by el nino, and know that a bountiful harvest is forthcoming; that adequate waters shall fill our streams, lakes, rivers and irrigation ditches; and that our children shall grow up to experience the wonderous opportunities of cycling in the vast waste lands known as . . . Orange County. :D

Jason, thanks for organizing the ride. It was the most fun I had all day.

Yes, returned quickly. Only one thing makes me drive that fast: a large coke, a large coffee, a full bottle of water and 50 miles to the next bathroom.

BTW, for those interested but doesn't have a garmin, here is the elevation profile (incorrect constant offset). I've included the speed as well since some of you are riding at my speed or slowed down to ride at my speed. :p :D

Total elevation gain according to my computer is 2713 ft.

Rats...sorry I missed it...but on Friday, there were twinges and bloinks...They were better yesterday, but I didn't venture too far from my house that I couldn't walk home bow-legged.

I really want to do this ride...someone plan it for next month, including the Baja Fresh/Carls Jr. lunch stop. I could go for a Western Bacon Carne Asada 6 Dollar burrito.

Know I posted this yesterday, but I think the "New and improved website" cancelled publication.
It was a great ride with great people, and thanx Jas for putting it together. So that Happytime knows, Tiff and Mel did a great job representing the forum Chic faction, and special thanx to everyone for keeping me going yesterday. Great photo documentation Paul & Tiff. Hope to see everyone next time.
