Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Riding a motorcycle after a few months on Bike?

Went on a short ride today and well I think I forgot how to ride. My Harley heritage softail classic has been sitting in the garage all year because of a rocker gasket oil leak its small and takes 4 hours to fix but since I started riding the bicycle I havent had the desire to fix it. Well my brother in laws are going to Sturgis and want me to come so my one brother in law is going to fix the leak. Riding it over there was really really really strange after the bicycle the last 4 months anyone else have this at all?

Since I ride my bike everywhere, I rarely drive my car. I had to go up to Indianapolis a couple weeks ago, which is about and hour away and it took a little getting used to. I felt so awkward.

No problems with motorcycle or bicycle. I just have to remember clutch and the brakes are way better on my motorcycles.

I,ve ridden twice as many miles with my bicycles than my motorcycle the last three years. I rode with my daughter last week ( she begged for a ride) indeed, it did feel weird. I kept thinkin what it would be like on the bicycle. .

The only issue I ever had when going between my bicycle and my Vespa was to remember the brake layout is different, and you can't pull that right lever on the Vespa like you would on a bicycle.

Does anyone swap their brake cables on their bicycle, to mimic their m'cycle? (I've read about it on the ss/fg forum, where some people run their front brake on a right-side lever to keep from confusion.)

Some people (like me) that ride motorcycles and bicycles alot find it helpful to switch the brakes on the bicycles so that both rigs have the front brake on the right side. Nothing is better than having some fool cut you off causing you to grab a fist full of clutch :eek:

The problem is that you have a Harley. I am not fan, but I am not going to "bash" the H-D. The thing is, it is big heavy and has a very different riding position than on any bicycle. (although recumbent's come close :))

I ride a Suzuki V-Strom, and riding bicycles helps my motorcycling a ton. I can stop completely without putting my feet down, and at parking lot speeds I am much better at bike maneuvering than when I don't ride my bicycle. I also like to ride as much off pavement as I can with it. This helps all around motorcycle handling even more.

I did ride my friends H-D Road King this weekend. Didn't like it at all. Just big heavy and loud. Felt like riding on top of a 1970's Cadillac with crappy brakes.
He did like my bike though, especially on the twisty portion we rode!

I had talked to the LBS about it when I got my bike. They were going to switch them over for me. I decided I would try it out the way it is normally and then have them change it later if I needed them to. I haven't had the problem yet, and I have had some close calls with people running stop signs.

I ride my Honda EVERY DAY, day or night,hot or cold, rain or shine. I average about 45K per year. When I started riding a bicycle a few weeks ago I thought about changing the brakes around too. I haven't done it yet but think it's a good idea. Glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling this way.

I changed my brake levers over on the MTB. Primarily because my motorcycle is mostly for track duty, and I do not want to goof by grabbing the wrong lever at 160mph in a braking zone.

I rode my motorcycle yesterday for a few hours and then got on the bicycle, and I never had a problem on which lever to pull. I think my brain must have it all figured out without having to switch anything up.

I can't even remember when the last time I messed up on the motorcycle. My tendency is to grab the right brake on the bicycle thinking it was the front and not getting the braking I expect. It doesn't happen often but having it consistent with the rigs is helpful.

I was more worried about messing up on the bike, but I guess right side for back is OK, and I haven't grabbed the front brake thinking it is a clutch yet. YET!!!!
