I started training for my summer goal way back in December. I finally registered for the race in February, and last weekend I completed it. I did my first off road century, the Cascade Cream Puff 100. The race is half singletrack with 18,000 feet of climbing. I finished in 12h43m, about an hour faster than I expected.

Training for it this year has been fun and it got me in the better shape that I thought was possible. My next plan is to ride across the country.

Have you completed your summer riding goal?

Not yet ... I've completed a bunch of my goals, but my main summer ride goes August 20-24th.

Good stuff, PhattTyre! That sounds epic!

Yeah, I suppose I have met my summer goal, in a way...

I just got back from Seattle to Portland one-day ride. It was FUN! I guess it would be my summer goal, because as a double century it's the one I've been training for.

Next month I'll be flying to Texas for the Hotter 'n' Hell 100, so I guess it ain't over til it's over - but that won't be such a big deal. Training for a double in the AZ summer is difficult! I had to take numerous trips to Northern AZ where I could get some long miles without getting cooked. Century training isn't so serious, a bunch of 50's and 60's ought to keep me in form for the next month. Maybe I'll get one more trip in up north, but that's nothing compared to what I've done recently!

Hey maybe I should go to France for a little bit of training???! :D

Yep,

Did it last week on the Death Ride (http://www.deathride.com).

Trained hard for it and it payed off big time. So this week I basically stayed off the bike until today.

Second goal is to ride the Shasta Century and have fun. Don't care if I complete it or not, It's just going to be a fun weekend of Fly Fishing on the McCloud Fri & Sat., Riding on Sunday.

Nope -- many of the best rides are in Aug and Sept. I hope to be able to get away to do the Shasta, but the only actual goal I have is to complete the Everest Challenge since I've never tried that before.

Did STP this last weekend. Got RAMROD next Thursday. But the big one is the PBP, still a month away.

Mission accomplished. My goals were to 1. complete first century in over 20 years and 2. complete STP in two days. I've actually completed 2 unsupported centuries so far, which is good for me. And just last weekend, at the prodding of another rider, I finished STP in one day, so I guess I've also got my first double century under my belt.
I've been looking at another ride that was just anounced recently - 120 mile round trip up to the Eastern Edge of Mt. St. Helens (High Pass Challenge.)

Nice job on the off road century - sounds difficult.

I did! Assault on Mt. Mitchell. Didnt complete it as fast as i had hoped, but it was hard and I'm looking forward to next year. Also got a lot of miles in since and have ridden 2 solo centuries this summer so far. So yeah... life can be good. Especially on a bike!

edit PS - oh yeah awesome job with the off road ride. i stand in awe!

I completed my goal, a solo century. So now my new goal is the Highlander Cycle Tour (http://www.highlandercycletour.com/highlander.htm) century. Looks like a ball buster.
