Did anyone notice today during the broadcast of the Tour de France, at kilometer 42.5 to go, there was a guy running with a Texas A&M flag with the leaders. Flag was mounted on a 10 foot pole, and was shown center screen for about 10 seconds. The Aggie family is everywhere....

Actually, he's answering how many football national championships they'll never have.

I have watched every stage of the TDF this year, and I have not seen any Longhorn flags. Longhorns are funny like this, after a guy named Lance is no longer in the TDF there aren't any more longhorns in France in July. Bandwagon fans perhaps? I think so... :o

How did Lance get associated with tu anyway? He is from Plano, Texas and lives in Austin, and this somehow makes him an honorary graduate of a school he never attended? strange. I bought my bike from Richardson Bike Mart, where Lance got his start. I even met Lance back when he was in high school in Plano. Does this make me a teasip as well? Hope not.

Lance was the "honorary captain" or something to that effect at the season opener of our most recent championship year.

12-7... Helps to have the refs on your side, I guess?

Q:How many University of Texas students does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A:Four, one to screw it in, one boasts about how great the light bulbs were back when Darrel Royal was there and the other two leave about halfway through.

I agree the t.u. fans come to Kyle Field to watch a real game. They never stay for a t.u. game.

It's sad really. It's a good school, my brother played baseball there. I had the chance to play football at both Texas and at A&M. I choose A&M for several reasons but one was fan support. On my unofficial visit, the fans were both late arriving and left early. On my official visit, the players were rude, cocky and could care less. I wanted to go there in the worst way. When I spoke to my brother, he even said to choose another school.

In that case you must be aware that Texas has a winning record at Kyle Field.

And that Aggies never boo, except for when they do.

Iron Mullet, congratulations on your winning football record. Your post though only serves to support what Ripa said. There are more important things in life than winning. I too cherish the years I spent in College Station. I was accepted to Texas, where both of my parents, my brother, my sister in law and one of my cousins went to school, but chose to go to Texas A&M after my visit there.

I guess they like playing in a packed house for the entire game.

Ironic Mullet

Nah, they just like winning and staying cocky.

They do both of those well. Like I said good school that could be great. Good luck this season.

Thanks, you too. If we keep it up, we might be able to stretch this out till kickoff. :)

My hope every year is that both teams come in with winning records and they play for the title. If both have zero losses, all the better. I would also like to see the games played on Thanksgiving like when I played. It meant so much more then.

I pull for both teams too, until we meet, then my blood boils maroon. Growing up in a Texas Longhorn household in Oklahoma City made me very much a Longhorn fan. I used to love to wear burnt orange to elementary school on the Friday before the Texas/ou game. And I still remember the whole family gathered around the TV watching the Horns and Aggies duel it out on Thanksgiving day. Bubba Bean was one of my childhood heros. It is sad that Thanksgiving no longer involves Bonfire and playing Texas.

My girlfriend just recently moved back to Houston from College Station. I have to say that in all of the years I made the 80 mile trip from my house to her Apartment the ones I loved the most was watching all of the UT fans getting pulled over by local cops. Amazing how DPS always picked out the UT fans out of the speeding group of trucks.

I'm not a UT or an A&M fan, I think both colleges have great sports programs, good school spirit, and a history that is fascinating to read about. Texas simply wouldn't be the same without either school.
