Professional Cycling - who do you WANT to win that has a good chance right now?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

my all-time favorite, vino, isn't sitting pretty right now, so valverde is the guy i'm pulling for. i love a climber who can sprint, and i think it's great for the sport to have a guy who can consistently ride well and win in the classics and in a GT. i think that would get the sport beyond this idiotic fixation with only riding the TdF for awhile.
so, who are you pulling for now?

Cadel, cos he's Aussie.
Valverde, cos he's classy.
Sastre, cos he seems like a decent guy.

Chicken legs Rasmussen or Cadel Evans
wouldnt it be cool to see the chicken win. maybe he comes out in the TT, almost crashes like eight times, but manages to stay up and limit his time lose? or not? later.

Sastrre or Evans would be great, Chicken would be awsome also.
Valverde is a coward.

You can't ignore Contador. :)
Levi, because Americans winning the Tour piss the French off. :p
But realistically, probably Cadel.

Contador the Matador was a nice surprise, as well as Linus. Linus is a bit young, but he has the right attitude.
I'm betting the chicken. Bobke keeps wahnking on about how bad Rasmussen was in the past time trial, but he forgets they guy just crashed, then ruined his concentration and crashed again.
He's much more mature now, and a pretty good descender. I don't think anyone can beat him up a hill.

Valverde--for the same reasons as the OP. And also because I somewhat randomly picked him to win in a little contest. I find it interesting that from the standpoint of TV and press coverage, he remains in the shadow of Levi, Chicken, Rasmussen, Vino, Mayo, Contador, etc. even though he's in second place. I know, I know. The reason Valverde has been in the shadows could be because he has never actually finished a TDF before. Well, we'll see.

I think it would make for an amazing win if Rasmussen pulls it off. If (when) he loses his lead in the time trial and then retakes it in a brilliant solo climb in stage 14 or 15.
I think that Kloden has a good chance at taking the lead in the time trial, if only it were longer....

Not looking all to good right now at almost 4:00 minutes back but I would love to see Levi pull a miracle out of his suitcase of courage.....

I want Mayo because I'm nostalgic for the pre-2004 hype but I have a feeling Kloden will take it.
Anyone who doesn't test positive after the tour is over. That is all.
That time trial is pretty long. What are you hoping for 100km?
