I'm spending a couple of weeks in Munich for school. Since I really only have this weekend for much riding time if it doesn't rain, I didn't bring my bike over with me. I'm spending some time in Paris in a couple of weeks, and so my school books beat out my cycling gear (shoes, pedals, glasses, you name it) in my luggage with the weight requirements here for intra-Europe flights.

I don't need to do any serious training, but I'd prefer to nab a road bike for a Sunday morning spin instead of renting a cruiser or similar bike in town from the tourist places. I'm working on trying to borrow some stuff from new acquaintances. The guys at Mike's Bike Tours told me to go to Second Hand Sports and see if I can rent a used bike for a little while. Anyone familiar with this shop? Any other good places that might also outfit me with at least a cycling cap or helmet with a visor (for the sun) and toe clips? I don't have the right clothes either, really, but I could make do there.

I'm having separation anxiety about my bike already and I haven't even been in Europe a week yet! It doesn't help that EVERYONE here rides some sort of bike.

france is great for cycling just learn a few phrases and poeple are super nice the bread and food fantastic and the desserts ohh wish i was in paris for some time sorry i cant help with bike stuff though but even a little french goes a long way

lol. I know some French. Paris isn't my problem (I think the most bike riding I'll do there are the 1euro quick rentals). I just need some tips for Munich. Turns out the weather is pretty bad for cycling this weekend, so there goes my training plans. I would like something for commuting next week, though, as an ankle injury is giving me problems with all the walking. I think Mike's Bikes only uses cruisers, and from looking at a tour today, I think they have coaster brakes. Cruisers are fine, but coaster brakes drive me nuts.
