which is more likely to strip? I have a chronic loose spoke that will not stay tight. I believe both spoke and nipple are stainless steel.
Thanks.

The nipple is either chrome plated brass or Al so it would strip before the spoke. I've never heard of stainless steel nipples
Believe I'd replace the nipple and/or locktight the threads, unless there is reason to suspect a bad spoke.

Thank you for those great responses. I'll try the Loctite first.

Before you tigten it again, take a close look at the rim where the nipple emerges and the hub where the spoke sits. You could be getting cracking in one or the other (the rim is more likely).

I'd just replace both. Spokes are $1.
