Pacific Northwest - Online Pedometer Map!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It's a bit tedious, but ultimately useful:http://www.gmap-pedometer.com
It allows you to trace a route and it calculates mileage and elevation.

Cool. It took me a minute to figure out how to use it...but works nicely.

I haven't figured out how to save the routes as far as storing and retrieving them, which renders it somewhat less useful.
You will like this one better: mapmyride.com (http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/nc/mt-airy-/532674110). It's more bike oriented. And it does the "Follow Roads" too, so it's faster to create routes.
Also, zoom the map to show your region, then pull down the "Find" menu and select "Show public routes on map" You will see the starting points for all the routes other riders have created. Click one marker to see it's details.
there's also http://veloroutes.org, it's got lots of features (like Google Earth output) and is run by an actual cyclist (me).

Click "bookmark map" or whatever it is, and then save it to your favorites.

Another . . . www.bikely.com (http://www.bikely.com). I think they all ultimately work off of the Gmaps platform and are pretty similar in layout, format, etc.
